Other VW stuff...
What else VW related can I share?
This is the odds and ends section of my car section. I'll post weird stuff I've found or maybe share some cool things I learn about my favorite marque.
Kadron manifolds...
Ok, this finding caught me offguard. I thought I had seen some stupid things that people do to their VW over the years. This finding perplexed even myself. It seems that these Kadron carbs I had purchased were used on an offroad vehicle at one point. The funny part is what they used to carb gaskets that sandwich a fine mesh screen and sealed with silicon. I don't know why they did it, unless it was to keep from large things falling into the carbs.
Update: It seems that Doug Berg (one of Gene Berg's sons) is developing and marketing a more refined version of this. He states that his device helps to straighten the air as it travels through the carb and intake manifold. He claims that although you lose a little power, it makes up for it in fuel mileage. So, did the person that did these manifolds know something we didn't? I don't think we'll ever know.
